DESCRIPTION: EPW - "Truitte, London" (two possibilities, one from Berlin, the other from Geneva, both ca 1770-80), Continental manufacture, verge fusee in rare porcelain case, 47mm, gilt tombac alloy mounts, porcelain bezel and back with idyllic scene, bird painting within, OF consular case, apparently purpose-made but inexactly fitted, KWKS, arcaded WED, verge escapement, gilt mvt with pierced & engraved foliate scrolled balance cock, blued steel balance cap, s#2600. Gross weight of assembled watch 55.5 dwt (86.2 g).
CONDITION: Mvt: NR, chain with broken fusee hook, shows good balance motion and escapement function with reverse pressure applied to fusee, plates show near mint gilding, no oxide on steel or mint blued components; dial with hl for 12 to center and over to 8, small chip at latch slot; hands excellent, slight mismatch; case shows little wear, few MFS, gilding gone from pendant top and bow, no dents or dings, perfect porcelain; rose-cut diamond mounted button latch good; bow & pendant original, pivoting freely without play; good flat-domed glass crystal.
